DMK forms committee for local body polls

Chennai, Sep 20 (UNI) The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has formed a six-member committee headed by senior leader and Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy to hold talks with its allies with regard to the local body elections, scheduled to be held on October 13 and 15.

DMK General Secretary K Anbazhagan, in a statement here said the team would hold discussions with the district units of the allies and take decisions.

Senior leaders Veerapandi S Arumugam, T R Baalu, K Ponmudi, A Raja and S Viduthalai Virumbi, would be the members of the committee, he said.

Mr Anbazhagan, in another statement, said that aspiring candidates in the party should obtain the necessary forms from the district units and submit the same after mentioning the details of their contests on September 21 and 22.
