Dena bank to open 30 new branches during current fiscal

Vadodara, Sep 20 (UNI) Dena bank will open 30 new branches and 250 ATMs across the country during the current financial year.

Talking to reporters here today, bank's new chairman-cum-managing director P L Gairola said the bank which had a total business of Rs 40,000 crore last year, proposes to increase it to Rs 50,000 crore by March, 2007 with its fast growing business.

Of the 30 new branches, Gujarat would have a share of three branches at Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Bhuj, he said adding that the bank was also going to open a couple of bio-metric ATMs soon to be operated with the finger prints of customers.

Referring to the core banking operation, Mr Gairola said arrangements were on to cover at least 850 of the 1100-odd branches under this system to provide the fastest service to the customers of the bank.

He said Dena bank, which had spent Rs 20 lakh last year to provide scholarships to poor and needy girl child at the rate of Rs.1000 per annum, had earmarked a sum of Rs 60 lakh for the purpose this year.
