Dalmiya hints at contesting BCCI polls next month

Kolkata, Sep 20 (UNI) Former BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya has said he is seriously considering fighting the BCCI elections due later this month.

''Whatever the questions were had nothing new in it. It was a mere repetition. So now I am thinking of speaking to them in the language they understand. I am seriously considering to fight the BCCI polls. By tomorrow evening I will decide on it,'' Mr Dalmiya told UNI.

Last night the former BCCI chief was again called to CID headquarters at Bhavani Bhavan where he was interrogated for over three hours. Mr Dalmiya went around 7.30 pm and was interrogated until 10.50 pm.

Talking to UNI here today, Mr Dalmiya said, ''I was not even contemplating fighting this election. But there is a limit to which one can take. Enough is enough. Now I have to talk to them in their own tongue.'' ''Time is very less. But I hope to work out something. This cannot go on forever,'' he added.

The BCCI's annual general meeting is scheduled to take place on September 27 and 28. If incumbent President Sharad Pawar gets elected unopposed this time according to the amended constitution he will go uncontested in the next AGM.

''I have some 72 hours and whatever I do I will have to do fast,'' Mr Dalmiya added.

Last night coming out of the headquarters, Mr Dalmiya had told UNI, ''There is nothing new in it. They (the BCCI ruling regime) try to keep me busy whenever there is something big, so that I cannot concentrate on my job properly.'' ''This happened before the CAB polls and it is happening now again. It has to stop somewhere,'' he said.

The Economic Wing of Mumbai Crime Branch arrived in Kolkata last evening and searched the Cricket Association Bengal (CAB) premises.

Then they went to Bahvani Bhavan and asked Mr Dalmiya to come for half an hour.

This is the third time the Mumbai Economic Wing special officers have come to Kolkata to interrogate and investigate matters related to alleged misappropriation of funds of PILCOM account.
