CPI calls for ending strike
Puducherry, Sep 20 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the CPI today called up on the striking JIPMER employees to drop their agitation and report for duty to ensure patient care in the centrally administered hospital here.
Addressing a press conference, CPI state secretary Na Ra Kalainathan pointed out that the decision to grant autonomy to JIPMER was to make it a national institution, enhance it's status and bring it on par with AIIMS.
The centre should ensure that the employees, students and patients should not be affected why the status is changed, he added.
Mr Kalainathan pointed out that when the draft Bill was being brought in Parliament, the employees through the MPS could highlight their grievences and get them redressed. Hence, they should stop their agitation now, he demanded.
Mr Kalainathan also appealed to the JIPMER administration to refrain from suspending the striking employees and conducting interviews for the appointments on temperory basis. The employees are restless following the strike and the time was not condusive for any such action as it would create adverse effects, he said.
