CM to inaugurate varsity valedictory function

Kannur, Kerala, Sep 20 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan will inaugurate the valedictory function of the decennial celebrations of the Kannur University and 'Nirmanotsavam' at Mangattuparamba campus, near here on September 22.

Addressing mediapersons, university Vice-Chancellor P Chandra Mohan today said, the Chief Minister would also give away the Dr P K Rajan Memorial Excellence Award for Teachers to three teachers from the university and its affiliated colleges.

Education Minister M A Baby would lay the foundation stone for the Rs 2.5 crore Teacher Education Centre at Dharmasala and MPs P Karunakaran and A P Abdulla Kutty would formally open the hostel for men and women, respectively.

The year long decennial celebrations were inaugurated by Kerala Governor R L Bhatia.

The university inaugurated on March 2, 1996, would complete ten years in 2006. It has 30 courses and 20 departments now, he said.
