CM conferred ''Shiksha Ke Kranti Doot''

Shimla, Sep 20 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) today conferred the ''Shiksha Ke Kranti Doot'' award on Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for his contribution in spreading the reach of education in the state.

Addressing NSUI activists here on the occasion, the minister thanked them for their gesture and said that the credit owes itself to every citizen of the state.

Mr Singh said Himachal Pradesh was poised to achieve more distinctions in future.

He said the state government had promulgated the Private Universities Act for inviting private players to set up universities in the state.

A number of private parties have come up with proposals, he said, adding that the aforesaid were being processed.

The chief minister remarked that the state would soon emerge as the knowledge hub of the country.
