APSGF demands Centre to fix MSP at Rs 1,250 per tonne
Vijayawada, Sep 20 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Sugarcane Growers Federation (APSGF) today demanded the Centre to fix the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 1,250 per tonne for 2006-07.
Talking to UNI, APSGF Secretary N S Venkateswara Sarma said here the Federation also asked the government to pay State Advisory Price (SAP) of Rs 200 per tonne.
Mr Sarma said Sugarcane growers had met recently and passed a resolution demanding that the MSP be fixed at Rs 1,250 and the SAP be revived after.
He urged the government to issue an Order making it mandatory for sugar factory owners to reimburse Rs 60 per tonne to growers towards sales tax, he added.
