Apple unveils revised iPod shuffle

New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) Apple Computer (AC) today launched a revised version of its iPod shuffle, nearly half the size of the original one, with one gigabyte memory that holds up 240 songs, in India.

''Presently, Apple has launched the revised iPod shuffle only in India, eyeing on the huge potential market,'' Apple Asia Pacific Product Marketing Manager (Portables) Yeo Eng Yiong told reporters here.

Available at an affordable price at Rs 5,600 including earphones and dock, the revised version of iPod shuffle weighs just half-an-ounce and features aluminum design and a built-in clip making it the most wearable iPod, Mr Yiong said.

iPod shuffle, having a battery back-up of up to 12 hours, can be connected to any personal computer with the dock and iTunes autofill feature automatically syncs the songs from the music library.

AC also launched the second generation aluminum design iPod nano, available in five colours--silver, pink, green, blue and black-- with a battery life of 24 hours and more than twice the music capacity as the previous generation.

Available in a price range of Rs Rs 9,800-16,400, iPod nano works with the Nike plus iPod Sport Kit and provides support for voice recording accessories.

The new version of iPod nano, featuring Search and Quick Scroll, is integrated with iTunes which lets the users choose songs.

The revised version of popular video player --iPod and 24 inch iMac were also unveiled by the company.

Combined with iTunes, the iPod features 60 per cent brighter and 2.5 inch colour display in a price range of Rs 16,700-Rs 23,600 with a strong battery life. The new 24 inch iMac with 24 inch widescreen display is available in the price range of Rs 62,900-Rs 1,20,400.

The new iMac lineup includes four models -- a 1.83 GHz and a 2.0 GHz for 17 inch, a 2.16 GHz for 20 inch and all-new 2.16GHz for 24 inch iMac.

The company also announced that its entire iMac personal computer range will now come with new Intel Core 2 Duo processors, making them up to 50 per cent faster.

Every iMac will now include a built-in iSight video camera for video conferencing.
