AP to receive heavy rains

Hyderabad, Sep 20 (UNI) Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur at most places in coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next two days, according to Indian Meteorological Centre, here.

Fairly widespread rains were likely to occur at most places over Telangana during the period.

Under the influence of the low pressure, Southwest monsoon was vigorous over Telangana and active in Coastal Andhra in the last 24 hrs, Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, Director M Satyakumar said.

Isolated rain occurred over Rayalaseema too.

Moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers were likely to occur in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and West Godavari of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar and Adilabad of Telangana in the next 24 hrs.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers were likely in the remaining districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and over Rayalaseema.

Isolated heavy rain was likely to occur in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and West Godavari of Coastal Andhra and Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar and Adilabad of Telangana during the next 24 hrs.

Sircilla recorded an extremely heavy rainfall of 30 cm followed by Jagitiyal and Mancherial 11 cm each, while Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Tiruvuru and Venkatapuram received 10 cm each.

Other chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms are Vijayawada Airport 9, Mulugu, Paleru Bridge, Perur, Yellandu and Suryapet 8, Khammam, Dubbak, Gudivada, Metpalli, Polavaram and Veeraghattam 7 each.
