Alert cops prevent communal flare up

Varanasi, Sep 20 (UNI) Owing to timely police intervention, a land dispute was prevented from snowballing into a communal flare up in the Jaitpura area here this evening.

Police said here that as in the past the local Ramlila Committee members and artists went to a platform on a disputed piece of land in the Dhanesara Pokhra area under Jaitpura police station area this evening. The members of the minority community, however, objected to their attempts at starting the Ramlila.

Both the groups indulged in getting to know about the incident police reached the spot and intervened in the matter to pacify both the groups, police added.

Later with the consent of both the groups, the Ramlila was started.

Large number of Police personnel have been deployed in the area.
