40 JKLF activists, including vice president arrested in Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 20 (UNI) About 40 activists of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), including Vice President, were taken into preventive custody in north Kashmir this afternoon.
Official sources said JKLF activists, led by Vice President Bahir Ahmad Bhat, took to streets at Bandipora, about 55 km from here in North Kashmir's Baramulla district in protest against alleged increase in Human Rights violation.
Raising anti security force slogans, the activists marched through different streets. However, when they reached the main market police took them into custody.
JKLF has decided to hold similar demonstrations across the valley against the HR violation by the security forces.
A spokesman of the JKLF said that alleged custodial killings, fake encounters and other atrocities by the security forces have increased despite the assurance by the govenment that no HR violations would be tolerated.
He said thousands of Kashmiris are languishing in different jails in and outside the state without any trail for years.
