Wrestling competitions as part of Dasara

Mysore, Sep 19 (UNI) The seven-day All India Invitation and State level wrestling competitions will be held here to coincide with the famous Dasara festivities.

Speaking to newspersons here today, Wrestling Committee Chairman K R Rangiah said over 200 grapplers from across the country, including 50 women, were expected to participate in the national tournament, to be held between September 26 and 29. Competitions would be held in seven weight categories for men and women. Over 400 wrestlers would compete in the State level tourney, to be held for seven days from September 27.

Cash awards would be given away to the winners in both the tournaments. In the State level championship, competitions would be held for Mayor cup, Dasara Kishore, Dasara Kumar, Dasara Kesari and Dasara Kentarva. Besides, traditional wrestling competitions would also be conducted during these days, he added.
