Venkaiah Naidu decries attack on Congress MP

Vijayawada, Sept 19: The state OBC cell Chairman I Venkaiah strongly decried the attack on city Congress MP I Rajagopal, allegedly by Telangana Madiga Dandora and Telangana Students Union at the Press Club in Hyderabad yesterday.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the incident as 'sad and unfortunate' as the students wing of TRS had prevented Rajagopal from addressing a press conference.

The alleged assault on Mr Rajagopal should not be justified at all he said, adding that the MP had every right to express his opinion before the media on the statements issued by his fellow party MP Sarve Satyanarayana that he had won with TRS support.

Mr Venkaiah cautioned the party leaders the future of the Congress party would be at stake if the infighting continues in the party.

He alleged that the TRS had planned and sent some people in the name of Telangana Vidyarthi Sangham to manhandle Rajagopal as the perpetrators who indulged in the attack were not really students.

He said the TRS leaders K Chandrasekhar Rao and A Narendra who were having alliance with the Congress party for two and half years had disassociated themselves with the latter by raising the separate Telangana issue.

The two leaders were well aware that the decision on carvation of separate Telangana state would be taken by AICC President Sonia Gandhi and whatever she decides should be abided by every one, he said.
