Toll-free phone service for SC complaints

Bhopal, Sep 19 (UNI) A nation-level toll-free telephone service will be started next month for registering reports regarding atrocities on Scheduled Castes.

''Complaints were received, from various states, about cases not being lodged against such atrocities,'' National SC Commission Vice-Chairman Fakir Bhai Waghela told UNI here today.

Commission Member Phool Chand Verma said the Commission would forward the complaints to the respective state governments. ''Last year, a total of 45,000 such cases were registered. However, the Commission believes this is a low figure when viewed against the scale of atrocities.'' UNI AG-AC DKB RS1842
