Tirumanjam performed in Balaji temple

Tirumala, Sep 19 (UNI) The Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) today performed Koil rpt koil Alwar Tirumanjanam at lord Venkateshwara temple in view of the annual nine-day Navaratri Brahmotsavam.

The Koil rpt koil Alwar Tirumananam (celestial cleaning of the temple) is performed four times in a year before utsavams on Tuesdays like annual Brahmotsavam, Ugadi, Anivariasthanam and Vaikunta Ekadasi.

As per rituals, cleaning of entire temple is done from Mahadaram (entrance of the temple) to the sanctum sanctorum. After cleaning with holy water, the temple priests perform speical rituals in the temple.

The sacred paste made from a combination of raw camphor, saffron, jali, pathri, parimalam, punugu, pasupu (turmeric) and sevaral scented herbals are applied on the walls, floors and other places in the temple and sub temples inside the premises.

The five hour ritual started at 0700 hrs. The devotees, who purchased ticket for the seva were allowed inside the temple to witness the ceremony.

Kalyanotsava, brahmotsavam, unjal seva, vasanthotsavam and sahasra deepalankara seva will be performed after purification, TTD sources said.
