Surat Cong raises doubts about fair inquiry

Surat, Sep 19 (UNI) The city Congress has cast aspersions about a fair inquiry by the commission appointed by the State Government to probe the reasons behind the recent floods here.

A large group of Congress workers, including city Congress president Sunil Bhukanwala and Surat Municipal Corporation's opposition leader Bapubhai Kapadia, gathered near Circuit House where the commission conducted a hearing today.

The Congress workers raised slogans against Chief Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that the State Government was not serious about the inquiry.

Meanwhile the commission, headed by retired Gujarat High Court judge Sugunaben Bhatt, conducted a hearing at the Circuit House today. Surat mayor Kanubhai Mawani, district collector Vatsala Vasudev, and trade, industrial and farmers' representatives met the commission.
