Sunil Chetri to lead Delhi Santosh Trophy squad
New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) JCT striker and international Sunil Chetri will lead a 20-member Delhi team in the ongoing 61st National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy.
The Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) has named midfielder Mohammad Irfan Jama Khan as Chetri's deputy after a month-long trial-cum-selection camp at the Ambedkar Stadium.
DSA secretary NK Bhatia also informed that the association has also requisitioned the service of state playing playing in clubs like Churchill Brothers, East Bengal, JCT, HAL and Mahindra United.
The list of players playing outside Delhi includes Vinay Singh and Parveen Rawat (Churchill), Chetri (JCT), Sumit Thapa (Air India), Prasant Jaggi (HAL, Bangalore) and Adnan Rehmatullah (Mahindra).
Churchill, however, has expressed its inability to release Vinay Singh for the Santosh Trophy because of the ongoing Goan league there, Mr Bhatia said.
