Son rescued after 13 years of confinement by parents

Angul, Sep 19 (UNI) After a long confinement of 13 years , a youth finally bacame free much to the discomfort of his family members.

38 year old Narrotam was hardly able to speak when he was rescued from the house in a remote village at Koshala under Chhendipada block by the local tahasildar with the help of the police yesterday He was 25 and married when his parents forced him to remain in confinement because of his erratic behaviour. Since then he was dumped in a dark small room of a thatched house as a punishment.

None of the villagers had any inkling that the youth had been kept inside the room for 13 years by the family members. It was only recently that the news leaked and the villagers forced Narrotam to come out of the dark room to see the light. But then he again went back to his world where he had spent long 13 years.

The matter was intimated to the local administration and the police officials and as the news of the confinement of the youth spread like wildfire, the administration swung into action to release Narratom from his parents.

The Tahasildar and the Chhendipada Police officer rushed to the village yesterday, broke the door open and rescued Narratom who was found to be physically and mentally drained.

Narrotam was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment by the officials and the villagers demanded that he be kept isolated from his parents and treated till he becomes normal.
