New Delhi: Sealing continues but MCD goes slow

New Delhi, Sept 19: With the Supreme court rapping the Centre yesterday for the September 15 notification, the MCD sealing operation continued today though the corporation seemed to be going slow putting 149 properties to seal today, as against over 200 in the past few days.

As against 226 properties yesterday, the MCD today sealed 149 properties for misuse in compliance of the orders of the Supreme court which included four in Central zone, nine in City zone, five in Civil Lines zone, nine in Karol Bagh zone, 15 in Najafgarh, three in Rohini, four in South, 47 in Sadar Paharganj, eight in Shahdara (North), 32 in Shahdara (South), and 13 in West zone.

In addition, 39 properties were sealed for unauthorised construction in compliance of the order of the High court.

These comprised four in Central, four in Civil Lines, two in Karol Bagh, seven in Rohini, 20 in Shahdara (North) and two in West.

In Central Zone, encroachment removal action was carried out in Defence Colony in which 21,000 sq. ft. area has been freed from encroachments. Demolition action was carried out Okhla Industrial Area Phase-I, during which the entire unauthorized construction was demolished. Four properties were sealed in Siri Fort and Anand Lok area for misuse. Demolition action was also carried out on a property at Siri Fort for unauthorized construction.

In Shahdara (North) Zone, encroachment removal action was carried out at road outside Shyamlal College, Railway Road and Subzi Mandi.
