School boy murdered for Rs.8

Balasore,Sep 19 (UNI) A dispute over less than Rs.10 led to murder of a school boy of class VIII by another student of class IX, on last Friday in Soro, police investigation revealed today.

The police solved the mystery of the death of Prabhakar Palai a student of P N High School,Jadida whose body was recovered with multiple injuries from a paddy field.

According to police,the accused Pravin Khatua (changed name) had taken Rs 8 from the victim on loan.They had a heated argument between when the latter demanded the money .

Prabhakar had reportedly scolded Pravin when the accused could return Rs.5 only.This enraged accused to do the crime.

Police said the accused called the victim to come out of the school premises in the pretext of attending a nature call.he then taking advantage of the power cut,strangled Prabhakar with a piece of cloth.

Thereafter,he dragged the body to a nearby field smashed his head with a brick resulting instant death and returned to the hostel throwing the body in the paddy field.

The police have seized the cloth as well as brick used as weapons for the ghastly offence. The accused was later forwarded to the juvenile justice court.
