Remove DGP for impartial inquiry: Cong
Bhopal, Sep 19 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Jamuna Devi has urged Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to relieve Director General of Police Swaraj Puri from his post in view of a court ordering an inquiry in a case against him.
''It's not appropriate that a person, against whom court has ordered an inquiry, stays on the post of state police chief,'' Ms Devi said in a statement here yesterday.
Pointing out that discipline and reputation was of utmost importance in police department, she said the image of police machinery was adversely impacted when the state police chief was himself an accused in a case.
She alleged that Mr Puri presented wrong facts to get his son admitted under NRI quota and said an impartial inquiry will not be possible unless he was removed from the post.
