Receding monsoon brings heavy rains in HP

Shimla, Sep 19 (UNI) Receding monsoon brought heavy rains at several mid and lower hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hours, the met office said today.

Several places in Kullu, Kangra, Mandi, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Shimla and Una districts received moderate to heavy rains till 0830 hours this morning.

The met office said Dharamshala in Kangra district was the wettest place in the state during the last 24 hours, receiving 60.2 mm rainfall followed by 55.2 mm at Kasol in Bilaspur district and 47 mm at Jogindernagar in Mandi district.

Bhuntar in Kullu district recorded 29.5 mm of rainfall, while Una town and Bethin in Bilaspur district received 29.4 mm and 22.6 mm of rainfall respectively, it said.

The met office further said Sujanpur Tira in Hamirpur district also recorded 25 mm of rainfall, while Sundernagar and Pandoh, both in Mandi district, recorded 17.6 mm and 15 mm rainfall respectively in the last 24 hrs.

Rampur in Shimla district received 17 mm, while Solang Nullah in Kullu district received 14.2 mm of rains till 0830 hours, it added.

Dharamshala in Kangra district has so far recorded 2,438.8 mm of rainfall from June one till date followed by 1,426.5 mm of rainfall at Jogindernagar in Mandi district and 1,261.6 mm rainfall at Nagrota Surian in Kangra district.

The sky remained cloudy over Shimla and other adjoining areas for the major part of the day, recording a daytime temperature of 23.1 degree and a night temperature of 15.3 mm degree Celsius.

Meanwhile Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded daytime temperatures of 28.1 degrees and 30 degree Celsius respectively and night temperatures of 17.7 and 19 degree Celsius respectively.

The met office has predicted isolated rains at few places in the state during the next 24 hours.
