Re gains 7 paise, closes at Rs 46.70/90/USD

Mumbai, Sept 19: The Indian Rupee today gained seven paise to close up at Rs 46.70/90 per US Dollar compared to the previous close of Rs 46.14 per USD, as rupee gained overall against global currencies, a money market trader said.

Earlier, the Rupee opened at Rs 46.13/14 per US Dollar and in the mid morning session traded at 46.11/12/US Dollar.

RBI fixed the Reference Rate at Rs 46.11/US Dollar compared to the previous rate of 46.12 per US Dollar on Friday.

The six month forward premia was fixed low at 1.24 per cent and the one year forward premia was also fixed at 1.25 per cent. The Rupee performance against other currencies improved too, against Euro, Rupee closed at Rs 58.22 (58.43), against Pound Sterling it closed at Rs 86.49 (86.57) and against Yen it closed down at Rs 39.15 (39.10).
