RBI to have more customer-freindly banks for NE

Aizawl, Sep 19 (UNI) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has set up a new high level committee here to implement new plans, especially for the the NE region, to make the banks more customer-freindly.

The committee would held frequent meetings in various NE states, official sources said.

A few registered societies and NGOs would act as agents of the banks in the rural areas, who would help these people to get their money easily as placing ATM's for all the banks in the region is not feasible.

The group would urge the banks to have a compatible credit-debit ratio for the NE region so that they could receive more benefits from these financial institutions.

Representatives from the SBI, Vijaya Bank, UCO bank, Mizoram Corp, Apex Bank, Mizoram Rural Bank, NABARD, IDBI and several other banks would be a part of the committee meet which would be held every month.
