Nine killed in two accidents in Karnataka
Raichur, Karnataka, Sep 19 (UNI) Nine people were killed on the spot and 44 others injured in two different accidents occurred in this district today.
Police said, six people, including three infants, aged between six months and 10 months, were killed and 36 injured when a KSRTC bus, on its way to Hospet from Gulbarga, fell into a gorge. The driver had lost control of the vehicle after it hit the barricade of a bridge in Devanahalla in Lingasugur taluk during early hours today.
Four of the six dead were identified as Manamma (25), Karunaveni (10 months), Abhishek (six months) and Pallavi (8 months). The other two were yet to be identified. All the injured were admitted to a hospital.
In another accident, an improvised mini bus, carrying labourers, collided with a lorry near Sindhanur town killing three women and injuring eight others. Two of them, including the driver of the mini bus were in serious condition.
The dead were identified as Valiamma (22), Nagamma (25) and Mallamma (30). The injured had been admitted to a local hospital, police added.
