Mizoram, Nagaland and Asom performs poor in NREGA
Aizawl, Sep 19 (UNI) The Rural Development Ministry has reported that Asom, Nagaland and Mizoram, besides 10 other states have a 'below average' performance in the implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA).
The Ministry has already directed the states concerned to take serious measures to improve NREGA during the next financial year, official sources said here today.
The statistics said the rate of utilisation of funds was mere five per cent in these areas.
The other states rated below average were Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
The expenditure on NREGA in all states so far had been 30.94 per cent of the total Rs 6,048 crore, the sources added.
