Marathwada package is an eyewash: Gopinath Munde
Mumbai, Sept 19: Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde today said the ''Marathwada package'' announced by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh at a Cabinet meeting at Aurangabad was merely an eyewash.
Talking to reporters here today, Mr Munde, who hails from Marathwada, said it was expected that the Government would announce a package on the lines of the Vidarbha package.
He said 50,000 houses were damaged in the recent flood and farmers lost Rs 1500 crore but they have not been compensated for the same.
The Government has only favoured the builders by announcing an increase in the Floor Space Index of five star hotels, he alleged.
The Government, he said, had failed to sanction a Rs 2180 crore project for providing Krishna water to Marathwada. As many as 270 debt-ridden farmers had commited suicide in Marthwada and, yet, the Government has not provided any succour to the farmers, Mr Munde said.
