Major fire at Rukhia power plant

Agartala, Sep 19 (UNI) A major fire broke out at the gas based thermal power project at Rukhia under Sonamura Sub-division in West District of Tripura on Saturday.

A delayed police report reaching here today said the fire originated at the plant number 6 generator plant. The fire was brought under control immediately by the fire tenders.

Police sources said following promt action by the fire service personnel the blaze was immediately brought under control. "It could have engulfed the whole power plant as the fire had started in a generator plant," said a top police official.

The loss of property of the power plant could not be ascertained yet. The investigation is on. Police ruled out any case of sabotage and said the fire was accidental.
