HC directive on speedy trial of cases
Patna, Sep 19 (UNI) Patna High Court has directed the subordinate courts under its judicature to identify cases related to rape and sexual harassment on women and dispose of such cases expeditiously through special courts earmarked for the purpose.
With a view to ease the growing pressure on the jails, the High Court, in a directive, has asked the lower courts to release on bail such prisoners, who are languishing in jails for more than two years, barring a few who are habitual law breakers and repeatedly charged with committing dacoity and murder.
In the directive, the High Court has also asked the lower courts to ensure early trial of the cases, which are pending for more than three years after obtaining stay or injuction order from appropriate courts.
The directive was issued in the light of resolution passed in the conference of Chief Justices of High Courts on March 9-10 to deliberate upon the issue of speedy delivery of justice.
