Gujarat Assembly adjourned as pandemonium breaks out

Gandhinagar, Sep 19 (UNI) The Gujarat Assembly was today adjourned for 30 minutes as chaos broke out over State Revenue Minister Kaushik Patel's remarks over Prime Minister's ''slim'' relief package.

Congress members became agitated when Mr patel said Dr Manmohan Singh did not announce a substantial relief package for Gujarat.

replying to his charge, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Arjun Modhvadia said that the State Government is yet to give a proper assessment of the damage caused by the flood.

''Let the government give proper statistics, then the Prime Minister will give an appropriate package,'' Mr Modhvadia said.

Following this exchange, members from both the sides started shouting and nothing could be heard in the din.

Then the Speaker adjourned the House for 30 minutes.
