Free de-worming for sheep in 8 AP dists

Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 19 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Agriculture N Raghuveera Reddy today inaugurated the sheep farmers training programme in the district and announced free de-worming for 5.60 lakh sheep across eight districts.

The de-worming programme, sponsored by the German-based Metro Cash and Carry Group, would be implemented in Warangal, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Medak, Prakasham, Mahaboobnagar, Anantapur and Kurnool rpt Kurnool districts.

The programme was being implemented in association with the Department of State Animal Husbandry and Confederation of Kisan Organisations, an Hyderabad-based NGO.

The training which aims to reduce the mortality rate among sheep and increasing farmers's profitability had been receied with great enthusiasm by farmers in the distrticts, the Minister said.

State Minister for Panchayat Raj J C Diwakar Reddy said the Metro Cash and Carry agreed to buy agariculture products directly from farmers and sell them in end markets like Hyderabad thereby creating a direct link between farms and market.

He said the producers of products like fruits, vegetables, spices, pulses and rice could now directly sell to Metro Cash and receive fair and transparent valutaions for their produce.
