Four mini steel plants to come up in Orissa
Bhubaneswar, Sep 19 (UNI) Orissa government will soon sign MoUs with four private companies for establishment of mini steel plants with a total investment of Rs.1720 crores.
The state government had so far signed 43 MoUs with private companies for setting up of steel plants with a total investment of more than two lakhs crores.
Of these 43 MoUs, the state government had issued showcause notices to at least ten companies for not taking any interest in setting up of the plants.
The government had already cancelled the MoU with three companies for showing little interest after signing the MoUs.
Official sources said four companies, who had evinced keen interest, to set up the mini steel plants were Scan Steel, Bhaskar Steel and Ferro Alloys, Sri Mahabir Ferro Alloys Limited and Maa Samleiswari Industries limited.
While Scan Steel had proposed to set up 0.568 MTPA steel plant at Bajbahal in Sundargarh at an estimated cost of Rs 590 crores, the Bhaskar Steel and Ferro Alloys had proposed to have a 0.27 MTPA steel plant at Tumkela near Banai in Sundargarh with an investment of Rs 312 crores.
Similarly, Sri Mahabir Ferro Alloys would set up 0.38 MTPA steelplant in two phases at Kulugaon near Rourkela at an estimated cost of Rs 435 crores and the Maa Samaleiswari Industries Limited would invest Rs.284 crores to set up a 0.257 MTPA steel plant at Lapanga in Jharsugura district.
Official sources said MoUs with these private companies would be signed before the Durga Puja festival.
