Faridabad, Bhiwani enter semi-final of Pataudi Trophy
Chandigarh, Sep 19 (UNI) Faridabad thrashed Yamunanagar by an innings and 220 runs in the Haryana Inter-District Cricket Tournament Pataudi Trophy at JR Institute of Cricket Technology (Barwala) Panchkula here today.
Resuming at their overnight score of 220 for 2 in 50 overs, Ajay Ratra was out early lbw to Abhimanyu after adding just eight runs on the board. Shafiq Khan (87) and Dharmendra (63) then stitched a 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Shafiq Khan hit nine fours. Sumit smashed a quickfire 39 off just 37 balls as Faridabad mustered 422 runs in the allotted 90 overs after losing 5 wickets. Abhimanyu and Maninder were the successful bowlers claiming 2 for 21 and 2 for 68, respectively.
Trailing by 317 runs in the first innings. Yamunanagar were bundled out for 93 runs in their second innings. Mohit Sharma once again bowled an effective spell with the new ball claiming four wickets for just 23 runs. Shiv Kumar (30) and Maninder (31) were the only ones to reach double figure. Faridabad entered the semi-finals and will face Bhiwani.
In another match Bhiwani defeated Chandigarh by virtue of their first innings lead and entered the semi-final. Bhiwani lost two quick wickets after resuming at their overnight 39 for 3.
Thereafter Mandeep Singh (50) and Prem Parteek (30) were involved in fruitful 60-run partnership. In the end, Deepak Chaudhary (26), Rajiv Sharma (22) made valuable contributions.
Bhiwani's innings folded up at 155 in 65 overs.
Sumit Narwal took six wickets for 44 runs.
Chandigarh in their second innings scored 121 for 7 wickets in 31 overs. Vipul Chada scored 26 and Michael Vishal 32 Rajiv Sharma took 4 wickets for 38 runs and Eresh Saxena 3 for 29.
