EME beat Ropar Hawks in Baba Farid hockey tournament

Moga, Sep 19 (UNI) EME Jalandhar defeated Ropar Hawks 2-1 in the opening match of the 15th All India Baba Farid Gold Cup hockey tournament at the Barjinder College hockey stadium here today.

At half time, both the teams were locked 1-1.

EME took the lead when in the first minute of play, Mahesh Kumar scored of a penalty corner. The Ropar Hawks tried its best to equalised and met with success in the 22th minute, when their mid fielder Amit Bhardwaj scored a field goal to make it 1-1.

However after the breather EME scored the winner in the 48th minute through Jagjit Singh, who intercepted a pass from the left flank and after getting past a defender, beat the goalkeeper with a powerful push.
