Eight people killed in clash
Gumla, Sep 19 (UNI) Eight people have been killed and about 12 injured in a clash between villagers and criminals at Kurkura village at Jharkhand's Gumla district.
The clash occurred last evening and continued till late last night when the criminals opened fire indiscriminately from a house in which they were locked by the villagers.
Police today said eight people, including the two criminals, were killed in the incident.
According to police, two armed youths had come to the village market and started terrorising people which provoked the villagers to lock them up inside a house.
About hundreds of villagers caught hold of the duo and set the house afire in which they were locked.
The criminals sensing that they would be burnt alive opened indiscriminate fire, killing six people on the spot and injuiring about 12.
Situation is still tense in the area but under control, police said.
