Constable killed in encounter with Naxals

Nagpur, Sep 19 (UNI) A police constable was killed and another injured in an encounter with Naxalites at Patalitola village in Gondia district late last evening.

Police said a group of Naxalites opened fire at a police team that was on patrolling duty. The incident occurred around 2130 hours.

A constable, identified as Manoj Shalikram Giripunje (28), was killed in the firing while another constable, Anil Gopichand Neware (30) was injured and has been admitted to a hospital in Gondia.

The police also retaliated and opened fire upon the Naxals but it was not known whether there were any casualties on the Naxalites side.
