Compulsory helmet wearing rule to pillion riders in AP

Hyderabad, Sept 19 (UNI) City Police Additional Commissioner (Traffic) A K Khan today announced that the legislation making compulsory wearing of helmet by pillion riders would be implemented soon in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Khan said the pillion riders were exempted from wearing helmets since the compulsory helmet rule was introduced for two wheeler riders. Keeping in view increasing deaths of pillion riders in accidents, the city police has decided to implement compulsory wearing of helmet rule by pillion riders also.

Since the traffic police started enforcing the legislation requiring wearing of helmet by two wheelers riders, accidents and deaths have been on the decline on the city roads, he said.

The new rule for pillion riders would be implemented in the twin cities as it was being enforced in all metro cities in the country, he added.
