Cine Exhibitors Association bandh continues

Visakhapatnam, Sep 19 (UNI) The city and district Cine Exhibitors Association's bandh entered the third day today.

Association President and Secretary J N Chowdary and T P Anantam stuck to their stand, as the Joint-Collector Sunil Kumar Sultania refused to reverse the decision to cancel the license of five theatres, which had not carried out his directions to provide basic amenities in the halls.

The theatres in the city remained shut in protest against the closure of Srirama talkies, Poorna, Surya and other theatres in the city on the Joint-Collector's order.

Vizag Cine Exhibitors Association Secretary T P Anantham said they had no intention of a confrontation with the administration.

The Joint-Collector talking to media persons here, stated that the management of Leela Mahal theatre had submitted the rectification report.

He said that his officers would visit the theatres to verify the report and permit the theatre to reopen.

He said state Commercial Taxes Minister K Ramakrishna would intervene and find an amicable solution tonight, if the issue was not solved.

The loss to the government would be around Rs 75 lakh and the loss to the distributors would be even more, he added.
