CEC reviews work with NE Chief Electoral Officers

Guwahati, Sep 19 (UNI) Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) N Gopalaswamy today reviewed the functioning of the Election Commission in the eight North Eastern states, including Sikkim.

He held a meeting with the Chief Electoral Officers of the eight states in his first visit to the region after assuming office of the CEC.

Mr Gopalaswamy was accompanied by Election Commissioner Navin Chawla and other officials from New Delhi.

The CEC discussed the issue of updating the electoral rolls at the earliest and preparing a genuine roll for all the states.

Mr Gopalaswamy also stressed on the fast disposal of cases against doubtful voters.
