Cable, MSOs directed to educate public about CAS
New Delhi, Sept 19: Cable and Multi-Service Operators in Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai, where Conditional Access System(CAS) is to be introduced from December 31, have been asked by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India to start a public awareness campaign about the new system in the notified areas not later than October 15.
The campaign will last for a period of 30 days. The Operators will have to file compliance report immediately after the start as well as the end of the campaign.
The purpose of the campign is to ensure that the CAS operates to the benefit of the consumers by making them aware of the working of the whole system, including the rates and prices of various services offerred under it.
The directive has come in pursuance of a regulation issued by TRAI specifying standards of Quality of Service to be observed by the MSOs/ Cable Operators in CAS notified areas of Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.
