Cabinet okays pension raise for freedom fighters
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Sep 19 (UNI) The State Cabinet today approved a proposal to raise the monthly pension of freedom fighters in the State by Rs 1000, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said.
Addressing the media after the two-day special State Cabinet meeting here, Mr Deshmukh said the rise in the pension will come into effect from October 1 this year.
As many as 13,272 freedom fighters in the State would benefit from the State Cabinet decision, Mr Deshmukh said.
The Cabinet also enhanced the annual award amount for the best small scale industry, given away at the district level every year, from the present Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000. The second prize winner will get Rs 10,000 instead of Rs 3,000, Mr Deshmukh said.
