BSES-Yamuna Power asked to explain reasons for inflated bill
New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today directed the BSES-Yamuna Power Ltd, the power supplier, to explain the reasons for sending a bill of more than Rs one lakh to a consumer whose meter had been stolen from her premises.
Expressing surprise over the inflated bill, Justice Ravinder Bhat directed the BSES-Yamuna Power Ltd not to disconnet the electricity connection of Ms Gayatri Devi of Basti Julahan of Sadar Bazar in walled city for the non-payment of the amount.
In June this year, the meter fixed below the staircase of the house was stolen and the consumer lodged a complaint with the police, said the petition filed by counsel V K Goel.
When the consumer went to the company with the complaint with the copy of the FIR, the discom installed another meter.
''The assessing officer wrote a note for the Division Manager to ascertain the authenticity of the FIR. The Business Manager tore off the note,'' said the petition.
After a few days, the consumer received a bill of Rs 1,01,050 and Rs 23,438 towards the consumption of power.
