Aspen starts fellowship programme for India

New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) US-based Aspen Institute today started a fellowship programme India Leadership Initiative (ILI) in collaboration with Global Markets Institute.

''To develop new generation of value-based action-oriented leaders in the country, such kind of a programme is needed in India,'' Aspen Institute India president Tarun Das told reporters.

Planning Commission Deputy Chief Montek Singh Ahluwalia launched the new programme at an event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The institute has selected 24 fellows, between the ages of 30-45 from diverse fields ranging from business, media, civil service, banking for the ILI programme in all over India.

Based on Henry Crown Fellowship, ILI would be focussing on business, government and civil society leaders.

The first seminar will take place from October 25-29 in India and all the 24 fellows will participate in a programme comprising of multiple seminars and leadership development activities over a period of 18-24 months.
