APCC to hold meeting to discuss Telangana issue

Hyderabad, Sep 19 (UNI) With the Congress High Command taking a serious view of the arguments among Congress MPs over the Telangana issue, the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) will hold an extended meeting of the APCC Executive and Congress Legislature Party to take stock of the situation.

Dismissing as 'media creation', the alleged attack on Congress MP L Rajagopal by a mob of students and dalits organisations in front of the Press club here yesterday, PCC President K Keshava Rao told reporters here that the meeting, which would be attended by All India Congress Committee(AICC) General Secretary Digvijay Singh, would discuss all issues, including Telangana.

The PCC President said it would be better if Congress leaders raised their concerns at party forum and not in public.

Meanwhile, TRS Spokesman V Prakash told reporters that the TRS would closely watch the developments within the Congress and urge Congress MLAs from Telangana region to come out openly in support of Telangana statehood in tomorrow's party meeting.

Due to heavy rains in Telangana, the TRS had decided to postpone its Orugulu Poru (battle cry) meeting in Warangal scheduled on September 25.

Meanwhile, terming the incident involving Mr Rajagopal as ''high drama'' BJP National Secretary B Datattreya alleged that Chief Minister Reddy was behind the drama, intended to divert the attention of the people from the 'political crisis' gripping the ruling party.

The Telangana Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti submitted a memorandum to the PCC Chief, insisting that Mr Rajagopal should tender an apology for his alleged remarks against the Telangana movement and against Mr Satyanarayana.
