Airtel launches mobile service in Arunachal

Itanagar, Sep 19 (UNI) Country's leading mobile service provider Bharti Airtel today launched its service here.

The service was formally launched in the state capital by Governor S.K.Singh who urged the company to provide composite cellular connectivity to the people in the remote parts of the country.

''The launch of the new mobile service mark the beginning of a new era in telecom services in the state. The company now has a state of the art network in the state,'' the governor commented.

Talking to mediapersons, Chief Operating Officer of North Eastern states Atul Chaturvedi informed that since its launch in Asom during April, 2005, Airtel is among the fastest growing mobile services in the region.

''We have launched our service at the twin capital cities of Itanagar and Naharlagun and planning to expand our services to Pasighat in East Siang district within two months,'' he informed.

Moreover, four major towns namely Bomdila under West Kameng district, Tawang in Tawang district, Ziro in Lower Subansiri and Along in West Siang district would have Airtel services by the end of this year, he added.

Bharti Airtel, which ranked 13th among the top companies in the world with over 25 million customers, has presence in 23 telecom circles in the country, he informed and added that the company had been offering a wide range of services including land line, broadband, PCO, VSAT and other services.

''We will leave no stone unturned to make Airtel services more comfortable in Arunachal Pradesh,'' Mr Chaturvedi claimed.
