Adulterated cement factory busted

Agartala, Sep 19 (UNI) The Dharmanagar police in Tripura's North district busted an adulterated cement manufacturing unit and seized 35 bags of cement from the town area recently.

Police today said, acting on a tip off they raided the Batarshi area in the town, busted the illegal factory and seized a number of illegal machineries along with the cement bags. The owner of the factory, one Kutti Mian, however, managed to escape.

The adulterated cement was mainly supplied to contractors involved in government work.

A few years ago some merchants were selling adulterated cement using the brand name of renowned companies. The police had seized hundreds of such bad quality cement from different areas of the town. The gang collected damaged cement from various godowns and later converted those to powder.

After a lull of a few years, the gang again resorted to the illegal practice, sources said adding search was on to arrest the owner of the cement factory.
