ACTIP threatens to intensify stir on dam issue

State Power Minister Francis Ngajokpa said in the Assembly on September 15 the construction of the Rs 6000 crore dam in the state, to meet the power demands of the country, is necessary.
The proposed dam would be constructed by the North East Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO).
The ACTIP had condemned the statement made by the minister, sources said.
It reminded that the state's people have objected to the anti-people, anti-environment Tipaimukh Dam Project since long.
It added that all the politicians, bureaucrats and technocrats were working against the wishes and desires of the common people.
ACTIP also asked the minister to withdraw his statement.
