World famous Gulmarg resort to have better connectivity

Srinagar, Sep 18 (UNI) The Kunzer bridge, which connects the world famous tourist resort Gulmarg with the rest of Kashmir, was likely to be rebuilt within next 15 days.

The under-construction 88 mt four-lane bridge would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 6.88 crore. The Kunzer bridge was damaged by lightning some months ago.

The 25 km Magam-Tangmarg-Gulmarg four-lane road was also being constructed under the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Programme at an estimated cost of Rs 76 crore. The first phase of work on 15 km from Magam to Tangmarg has been taken up. On this road, as many as three bridges would be constructed.

At Gulmarg, work was on to create an artificial lake at Dhobi Ghat. One lake on 40 kanals (2 hectares) of land has already been constructed in the area while the work on second lake spreading over 35 kanals (1.75 hectares) of land is in full swing. These two lakes would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 7 crore.
