Water level in Ukai dam rises

Surat, Sep 18 (UNI) Heavy rains in the catchment areas of the Ukai dam has lead to an increase in the dam's level, forcing authorities to discharge 50,000 cusecs of water.

District flood control room sources informed that due to the rains, the level in the dam has risen to 339.44 feet, just one feet below the rule level.

The meteorological department has forecast more rains in western Maharashtra and south Gujarat during the next 48 hours.
