Videocon's Aurangabad SEZ to create 75,000 jobs
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Sep 18 (UNI) The 'Indian multinational' Videocon Group which signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the State Government for setting up a multi-product Special Economic Zone (SEZ) here has expressed confidence of creating at least 75,000 new jobs.
Addressing a gathering of industry represenatatives and officials at the signing of the MoU, Videocon Chairman and Managing Director Venugopal Dhoot said the group plans to set up the SEZ in a joint venture with Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) here on 6600 acres of land with initial investment of Rs 1,000 crore and it is expected to generate 75,000 jobs in the years ahead.
According to Mr Dhoot, the multi product SEZ is likely to bring fresh investment of about Rs 10,000 crore in the field of agro products, bio-tech, techno educational university, electronics, tourism, floriculture and food processing, and pharma.
This is the second MoU the state government has signed for setting up a SEZ in economically backward region of Marathwada. It had signed a MoU with pharmaceutical major Wockhardt to set up a biotech-specific SEZ in Aurangabad.
